Flowers: Rose magenta with black markings, early flowering in August and September.

Cultivation information: Suitable for shelter belts as tough. Used as grafting stock in New Zealand but does sucker.

History: probably R. arboreum ssp. arboreum x R. ponticum. Raised and named by A. Waterer, Surrey, UK, pre 1865.
