Rhododendron 'Super Jay'

Family: Ericaceae (Heath)
Comments: Habit: Compact upright shrub to 1.5m.
Foliage: Dark scaly leaves fringed with hairs, covered with white hairs when new.
Flowers: 2-5 per flat-topped umbel, open funnels, red in bud opening white, pinkish lobes, deep orange blotch in throat, scented. Calyx 7mm greenish yellow. October-November flowering.
History: R. Anderson cross, raised and named by Hal Braafladt, Eureka, California, USA.
