Life form: Shrub - evergreen
Comments: Habit: Forms a shrub to an upright tree of some 6m with age. Bark is smooth and peeling.
Foliage: Orbicular, ovate or broadly elliptic leaves that are 4-10cm long by 3-7.5cm broad. The upper surface is dark green and smooth, whilst teh underside is a pale bluish-green and shiny.
Flowers: Loose trusses of 6-10 campanulate deep red flowers with a very distinct cup-shaped calyx.
