Flowers: Hose-in-hose scarlet flowers with narrow petals are produced in great numbers to cover the bush every season.

History: Parentage unknown, Raised in Japan pre 1918. Ernest Wilson brought the famous 'Wilson 50' to the USA from Japan in 1918. This plant was known as 'Yaye-Hiryu' in Japan, then Wilson No 39, and then Wilson named it 'Scarlet Prince'. It is still often sold as Scarlet Prince but Yaye-hiryu is the correct name.
