Rhododendron 'Mi Amor'

Family: Ericaceae (Heath)
Life form: Shrub - evergreen
Comments: Habit: Medium compact shrub, approx 1.8m in ten years but can eventually grow to over 3m in height.

Foliage: Large textured ovate leaves are dark green on top and grey-green underneath.

Flowers: Large white bell-shaped flowers with pale yellow throat, and a heavenly strong scent. Umbel of 4-6 flowers around 100-150mm in length. Flowers mid season, late October - early November.

Bark: Light brown.

Cultivation information: Tolerates a range of temperatures, but requires protection from heavy frosts.

History: R. lindleyi X nuttallii. Raised by M.H. & Mrs F. Sumner and registered in 1962.

Available in NZ from specialist rhododendron nurseries.
